The following policies govern the implementation of the student Events and Announcements newsletters. Michigan Engineering’s Office of Student Affairs oversees and manages these policies. Questions regarding these policies should be directed to engin-student-newsletter@umich.edu.
Submitters must have a current U-M affiliation and must log in with a U-M uniqname and UMICH password to access submission forms.
Submissions are classified as either an Event (appropriate for a calendar) or an Announcement (of general interest, not appropriate for a calendar), but not both.
Submissions/edits/cancellations must be received by Wednesdays at 1 p.m. ET (48 hours before email is sent)
Submitters may request modifications or cancellations by contacting engin-student-newsletter@umich.edu before the submission deadline.
Moderators will make every effort to correct obvious spelling and grammar errors, but submitters are ultimately responsible for the accuracy of their submission. Moderators will not edit submissions beyond spelling and grammar corrections.
Content of submissions on behalf of recognized student organizations must comply with the policies related to student organizations set forth in the U-M Student Life Policies for Student Organizations.
Submissions must comply with U-M policies and guidelines, including those listed below:
40 character limit for item headers
550 character limit per submission
Announcements may be included a maximum of three times per semester. You must re-submit your announcement each time you would like it to re-run.
Announcements will be listed in the order they are received. Moderators reserve the right to adjust the order to prioritize announcements related to University or College priorities.
250 character limit for event descriptions
Each Events newsletter will include events scheduled within the next 10 days and any events requiring advance registration or application within the next 10 days (in a separate section).
Use of Happening @ Michigan is encouraged but not required. Events in Happening @ Michigan are automatically added to the newsletter if the organization is on this list of Happening @ Michigan sponsor IDs AND the Happening event includes at least one of the following tags:

Undergraduate
Transfer Students
Graduate
Graduate Students
Engineering
Michigan Engineering
The list of students that receive the student Event and Announcement newsletters is comprised of students whose academic plan is designated as within Michigan Engineering. Students who wish to unsubscribe from receiving the summaries can do so by following the instructions listed in the footer of the messages.
